President Mohammed Shahabuddin joined hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds to observe the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises this morning.
Notable figures from the country, including the Chief Justice of Bangladesh, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, lawmakers, senior political leaders, diplomats, and high civil and military officials, participated in the main Eid congregation held at 8:30 am.
The Eid prayers were conducted by Khatib Hafez Maulana Mufti Ruhul Amin from Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
A special munajat (prayer) was offered, seeking divine blessings for the peace, progress, and welfare of Bangladesh, its people, and the Muslim Ummah. The prayer also included wishes for the President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's health and longevity.
Additionally, prayers were made for the eternal peace of martyrs who sacrificed their lives during various democratic movements, especially during the Liberation War in 1971. Special prayers were also offered for the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and others who were martyred on the tragic night of August 15, 1975.
The munajat extended to seeking Allah's blessings for the peace and welfare of the Palestinian people, who are currently enduring immense suffering.
Following the prayers, the President exchanged Eid greetings with attendees at the Eidgah.
The Eid congregation was organized by the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), which made special arrangements for women to participate in the Eid prayers at the National Eidgah.
Stringent security measures were implemented in and around the prayer grounds to ensure safety during the event.
Upon arrival at the National Eidgah, President Mohammed Shahabuddin was received by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, Religious Affairs Minister Md. Faridul Haq Khan, DSCC Mayor Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, and other dignitaries.
