Thirteen candidates have submitted nomination papers for the upcoming elections of the sub-district council (Upazila Parishad) in the Ukhiya sub-district (Upazila) of Cox's Bazar. The last day for submitting nomination papers was Thursday. The election is scheduled to be held on May 29th.

Four candidates have submitted nomination papers for the position of chairman, six for male vice chairman, and three for female vice chairman. The candidates for the Chairman position are Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury, Bir Muktijoddha Jafor Alam Chowdhury, Shah Alam, and Abul Manjur Chowdhury.

The nominees for Male Vice Chairman are Jahangir Alam, Awami League leader Russell Chowdhury, Kamal Uddin Mintu, journalist Gofur Mia Chowdhury, Maulana Gofur Ullah, and Mamunur Rashid. Additionally, Shahina Akhtar and Kamrun Nessa Baby are vying for the position of female vice chairman.

Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, an election official in the Ukhiya sub-district, confirmed the submission of nomination papers by the thirteen candidates.
