Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have been stationed at various key points in the capital to thwart the Bangla Blockade announced by anti-quota protesters. The blockade was set to begin at 3:30 pm on Thursday, prompting police to set up barricades at locations including Victory Square, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, Gulistan, Science Lab, Nilkhet, and Agargaon.
DMP Additional Commissioner Dr. KH Mahid Uddin noted that the quota issue had been suspended for four weeks by a High Court ruling on Wednesday, making the ongoing protests unnecessary.
