Nobel laureate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus has criticized the practice of making defendants stand in iron cages during court proceedings, calling it humiliating.
Speaking after a hearing at Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 on Monday, Dr. Yunus expressed relief at not being compelled to stand in an iron cage that day.
He condemned the use of these cages as a great insult to the nation, urging the Law and Justice Division to promptly remove them from courtrooms.
Dr. Yunus emphasized that such treatment is degrading and should not be tolerated, stressing that courtrooms should uphold justice without subjecting individuals to humiliation.
