Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma and British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke met with the newly appointed Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Wednesday.

In separate meetings held at the foreign ministry, both envoys expressed their commitment to continuing cooperation with Bangladesh's interim government for the welfare of the people.

"The meeting today was purely a courtesy call, without any specific agenda. India is keen to continue working with the interim government for the mutual benefit of both countries," stated the Indian high commissioner.

The British high commissioner emphasized the UK's full support for the interim government in its efforts to restore peace, order, accountability, and the democratic process in Bangladesh.

These meetings come after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina on August 5 following widespread protests led by students and the public. An interim government was subsequently formed on August 8, with Dr Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor. Md Touhid Hossain, a former foreign secretary, was appointed as the Foreign Affairs Adviser for the interim government.
