A murder case has been filed against 101 individuals, including former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and the party's General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, in connection with the death of a teacher during the recent student movement in Bogra.
Sikander Ali, the father of the deceased Salim Hossain, 35, lodged the case on Friday at Bogra Sadar police station, accusing Hasina and Quader of inciting the killing.
Salim, who resided in Palikanda village within the Pirob union of Shibganj upazila, Bogra, was a teacher at Light House School of Learning and Diversity in Murail, Kahaloo, according to reports.
The accused list includes two former MPs from the Awami League, five Upazila chairmen, two mayors, eight Bogra municipality councillors, 10 union parishad chairmen, and 25 public representatives. Additionally, 350 unidentified individuals are also named in the case.
Prominent figures accused include Mujibur Rahman, President of Bogra district Awami League and former MP from Bogra-5 (Sherpur-Dhunot), and Ragebul Ahsan, General Secretary of the same unit and former MP from Bogra-6 (Bogra Sadar).
According to the case details, on August 4, a day before Hasina resigned and left the country, a group of Awami League members, including the two former MPs, allegedly launched an attack on protesters in front of IFIC Bank on Station Road in the Satmatha area of Bogra town during the student movement.
The attackers reportedly used cocktails and petrol bombs. Teacher Salim Hossain was gravely injured during the assault.
Councillors Abdul Matin Sarkar and Aminul Islam allegedly attacked Salim with a machete, while Councillor Arifur Rahman beat him with a hockey stick. The assailants reportedly ensured his death by inflicting further injuries with weapons.
