Dhaka, August 23 — Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has instructed all members of the Advisory Council of the Interim Government to stand by those affected by the ongoing floods. He is continuously monitoring the flood situation as it develops.

The directive was given during a cabinet meeting held at the State Guest House Yamuna on Thursday. Later that evening, Shafiqul Alam, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, addressed a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy, stating that the flood situation was a key topic of discussion during the cabinet meeting.

According to Shafiqul Alam, Dr. Yunus has requested members of the Advisory Council to visit the flood-affected areas and provide direct support to the victims. The press secretary reported that floods have impacted 10 districts, affecting approximately 3.6 million people. The advisors are expected to visit these districts to offer assistance to those affected by the disaster.

Shafiqul Alam also cited the Directorate of Meteorology, stating that the flood situation is a result of prolonged heavy rainfall. Another contributing factor to the floods is the drying up of rivers and canals, which has exacerbated the impact of the heavy rains.
