Dhaka, August 25 — Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, on Sunday at 11 am at the Rashtriya Guest House Jamuna. This marks Ambassador Wen's first visit since the formation of the Yunus-led interim government.

According to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Office, the meeting was expected to cover various topics of mutual interest. Discussions likely focused on bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China, particularly in light of the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025. It is speculated that China's cooperation in the repatriation of Rohingya refugees will be a significant topic, along with discussions on China’s involvement in development projects and comprehensive strategic cooperation with Bangladesh.

Prior to this meeting, Ambassador Yao Wen had also met with a delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday, August 21.
