Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N): The death toll from the recent floods across 11 districts has reached 54, with two additional fatalities reported in Feni district as of Friday, according to a report from the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry.

The casualties include 14 deaths in Comilla, six in Chittagong, 19 in Feni, eight in Noakhali, three in Cox’s Bazar, and one each in Brahmanbaria, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar, and Lakshmipur.

Additionally, 1,009,522 families have been stranded across 64 upazilas in the affected districts, which include Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur, and Cox’s Bazar.

The floods have impacted 5,464,167 people in 486 municipalities or unions within these districts. One person remains missing in Moulvibazar.

Meanwhile, 469,687 people have sought refuge in 3,269 shelter centers, along with 38,192 domestic animals, according to ministry data.

To aid the affected regions, 567 medical teams are providing services. The government has allocated Tk4.52 crore in relief funds, along with 20,650 tons of rice, and 15,000 packages of dry food, baby food, and fodder worth Tk35 lakh each, as stated by the ministry.
