Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N): Former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Md Saiful Alam, has been sent into forced retirement by the army. Alongside this, Lt Gen Mujibur Rahman has been dismissed from his position, as per a notice issued by the armed forces on the night of September 11.
Saiful Alam, who was commissioned into the army through the 14th BMA Long Course at the Bangladesh Military Academy, previously served as an area commander for the 11th Infantry Division in Bogura Cantonment. He had been appointed as DG of DGFI on February 24, 2020.
Earlier, on September 3, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) froze the bank accounts of Saiful Alam, his wife, and children. Banks were directed to provide account-related documents, including KYC forms and transaction statements, to the BFIU within five working days.
