Tangail, Feb 27, (V7N) - A meeting was held in Tangail to discuss maintaining reasonable prices for essential goods during the upcoming month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting, organized by the district administration and the Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB), took place on Thursday afternoon at the District Commissioner’s conference room.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including the Chief Guest, Mohammad Yasir Arafat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development & Human Resource Management), and Syed Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Organizing Secretary of the central committee of CAB. Also present were the District Assistant Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman, President of the District Business Unity Alliance Abul Kalam Mostafa Labo, District CAB representatives, and members from various upazilas.
The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure that the prices of essential commodities, including food items, remain under control during the holy month of Ramadan and the subsequent celebration of Eid. Various stakeholders, including law enforcement, business representatives, and consumer rights groups, emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to avoid price hikes and ensure fair market practices.
The discussion also touched upon the importance of monitoring market trends and ensuring that both consumers and traders have a clear understanding of price regulations during the festive season. The officials called for a joint effort to prevent hoarding and artificial price inflation, which could make the holy month more difficult for the general public.
