Dhaka, Feb 26 (V7N) – Expatriates sent 2.79 billion US dollars to Bangladesh in the first 25 days of February 2026, equivalent to 34,620 million taka at a rate of 122 taka per dollar.
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the figures to the media on Thursday (February 26). He said that during the same period last year, 2.28 billion dollars were sent, marking a significant year-on-year increase.
From July 2025 to February 25, 2026, total remittances reached 22.225 billion dollars, reflecting a 21.8% growth compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Monthly Highlights of Remittances

January 2026: 3.179 billion dollars – the third highest monthly remittance in Bangladesh’s history and the second highest in the current fiscal year.

December 2025: Second highest remittance in history and the highest for the current fiscal year.

It is noteworthy that in the last fiscal year 2024-25, expatriates sent a record 30.32 billion dollars, the highest annual remittance ever received by Bangladesh.
The continued growth of remittances underscores the strong contribution of the Bangladeshi diaspora to the country’s economy, particularly in supporting foreign exchange reserves and household incomes.
