Dhaka, June 24 (V7N) - The number of vehicles crossing the Bangabandhu Bridge over the Jamuna River in Tangail and the amount of toll collected have increased significantly after Eid. Approximately Tk 3 crore in toll was collected in a single day, i.e., in the last 24 hours, and 37,600 vehicles crossed the bridge.

Engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, the executive engineer at the Bangabandhu Bridge site office, confirmed this information on Monday (June 24).

The Bangabandhu Bridge site office reports that from midnight on Saturday (June 22) until 12 p.m. on Sunday (June 23), 14,897 vehicles crossed from Tangail's bridge toll plaza to North Bengal, collecting Tk 1 crore 26 lakh 950 in tolls.

Additionally, at the Sirajganj Bridge's western toll plaza, 22,703 vehicles have crossed towards Dhaka and Mymensingh, and toll collection amounted to Tk 1 crore 66 lakh 30,600.

Previously, from Thursday (June 20) midnight to Saturday (June 22) midnight, 44,189 vehicles had crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge in a day, collecting Tk 3 crore 60 lakh 6,300 in tolls.

It is noteworthy that due to Eid-ul-Adha, a week ago, both slow and fast-moving vehicles have been seen in the congested area of approximately 14 kilometers from Elenga on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Expressway. As a result, the people of North Bengal and the capital city are suffering immensely.
