Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N): A red-flag rally and procession were held in Barisal on Friday afternoon, protesting the ongoing attacks and abuse faced by minority communities in Bangladesh.

The event, organized by the Bangladesh Combined Minority Alliance, which includes various minority organizations, aimed to condemn the violence, forced conversions, and mistreatment targeting these communities.

The rally kicked off at the central Shahid Minar in Barisal city before participants took to the streets in a red-flag procession that marched through the city’s main roads, culminating at the Natun Bazar premises.

Speakers at the protest highlighted the persistent attacks on minority communities despite repeated assurances from authorities. One speaker noted that many idols were vandalized during the Durga Puja celebrations, prompting this demonstration.

Ridoy Singhania, one of the organizers, expressed disappointment over the lack of sufficient action from law enforcement agencies in response to the attacks and cases filed. "No visible steps have been taken, leading to a continued escalation of violence," he stated.

The speakers called on all citizens to unite and take a stand to prevent further violence against minority groups.
