Dhaka, Oct 14 (V7N) — Six individuals have been arrested in connection with a daring robbery in the capital’s Mohammadpur area, where the perpetrators disguised themselves in army and RAB uniforms, according to a press release from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) issued on Sunday.

The robbery took place on Friday night when a group of 8 to 10 men barged into a residence, stealing approximately 75 lakh BDT in cash and 70 pieces of gold ornaments.

According to the victims, the robbers entered under the guise of retrieving weapons, wearing masks and uniforms similar to those of the army and RAB. They searched multiple cupboards, vandalized furniture, and looted the valuables.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iftekhar Hasan of Mohammadpur Police Station confirmed that a robbery case has been filed. He provided further details, stating, “The doorman opened the gate, thinking they were law enforcement officers because of their uniforms and masks. They proceeded to Abu Bakr's flat on the third floor, accompanied by others in RAB jackets and plain white clothing.”

OC Hasan noted that the robbers’ appearance was so convincing that no one initially suspected them of being impostors.

Police are continuing their investigation to track down any additional suspects and recover the stolen cash and gold ornaments.
