Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N)- A lawyer has reportedly been assaulted outside the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court for chanting the slogan "Joy Bangla." Witnesses indicated that the attackers were lawyers affiliated with the BNP.

Anonymous sources stated that AZM Fariduzzaman, the lawyer in question, had chanted "Joy Bangla" as former Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam was being escorted to a prison cell following a court hearing. A group of pro-BNP lawyers allegedly attacked Fariduzzaman, who was later rescued by fellow lawyers.

Awami League-affiliated lawyer Morshed Hossain Shahin expressed uncertainty about the attackers' identities. "I heard about the incident, but we were busy with case proceedings and have no information on who was responsible," he commented. Fariduzzaman had not provided a statement at the time of reporting.
