In a series of tragic events, three individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents across various areas of Dhaka, namely Banani, Jatrabari, and Mohammadpur.
The victims have been identified as van driver Abul Kalam Hawlader, aged 42, tailor Shahjahan Talukder, and an 11-year-old child named Mahmud Rifat. These incidents occurred between midnight and 5 am on Friday.
Abul Kalam Hawlader's daughter recounted that her father operated on the Jatrabari route. Sadly, he was struck by a covered van on Friday morning, sustaining critical injuries. Despite being rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he was pronounced dead by medical professionals. Sub-Inspector Mehedi Hasan from Jatrabari police station confirmed the incident and stated that the body was handed over to the family.
Shahjahan Talukder was returning home when he was hit by a speeding motorcycle, as reported by a family member, Ohidul Islam. Initially taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, Shahjahan's condition worsened, prompting a transfer to DMCH, where he was declared deceased by emergency department physicians. The body was released to the family by Shyamal Ahmed, sub-inspector of Banani police station, without undergoing an autopsy.
Tragically, Mahmud Rifat was riding a motorcycle with his father when they were struck by a covered van. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Arifur Rahman from Mohammadpur police station confirmed that Rifat succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
