On Tuesday evening, journalists were reportedly assaulted by actors at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) following the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti 2024-26.
Several journalists sustained injuries and were subsequently hospitalized, including Mithun Al Mamun, an Entertainment Reporter from Daily Khabarer Kagoj, along with his cameraman and eight others.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the altercation between journalists and actors erupted following an interview with an actress. Subsequently, some actors allegedly initiated the assault on journalists.
Among those allegedly involved in the attack were actors Joy Chowdhury, Shiba Shanu, Alexander Bo, and several others, as reported by journalists.
Earlier in the day, around 5:30 pm, the remaining members of the Shilpi Samiti took their oaths under the leadership of President Misha Sawdagar at the open premises of BFDC. Chief Election Commissioner Khorshed Alam Khusru administered the oath to Misha.
In his post-oath speech, newly elected General Secretary Monowar Hossain Dipjol expressed gratitude for the contributions of past individuals in the film industry and expressed hope for innovative progress during their tenure. He assured continued efforts to enhance the industry and solicited support from members.
