Rickshaw pullers staged a demonstration in Dhaka on Saturday, calling for a ban on auto-rickshaws from operating on main roads. The protesters gathered with their rickshaws in the Dhaka University area before moving towards Shahbagh, chanting slogans against auto-rickshaws.

One of the protesters, Zahurul Islam, expressed concerns about the impact of auto-rickshaws on their livelihoods, noting that their presence on main roads has reduced the number of fares for traditional rickshaws. The protesters demanded the reinstatement of the previous rule that restricted auto-rickshaws from operating on main roads, warning that without action, they would struggle to survive.
