Panchagarh, Dec 09 (V7N) — The northern district of Panchagarh continues to experience a steady decline in temperature, with the entire region enveloped in light fog throughout the day. Over the past week, temperatures have fluctuated between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius, with Tentulia recording the country’s lowest temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius on Monday.

Cold northern winds accompanied by persistent fog have added to the chill. Despite occasional breaks of sunlight in the mornings, there is little warmth. Low-income residents, particularly those without proper winter clothing, are feeling the brunt of the cold. Students, facing their annual exams in December, are also struggling to cope with the chilly mornings.

Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital has reported an increase in patients suffering from colds, coughs, and fevers. While indoor hospital admissions remain low, many are seeking outdoor treatment. Hospital authorities noted that the number of patients has been rising steadily with the drop in temperature.

On Saturday, the temperature dropped to 9.9 degrees Celsius in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district, underscoring the onset of a harsher winter in northern Bangladesh.

Local authorities are advising residents to take precautions to stay warm and healthy during this cold spell.
