Dhaka, Jan 03 (V7N) — The Meteorological Department has forecast dense fog and chilly weather across several regions of Bangladesh in the coming days. Fog is expected to persist from January 6 to 7, after which temperatures are likely to rise slightly.
Meteorologist Khandaker Hafizur Rahman reported that Tentulia recorded the season's lowest temperature at 8.3°C, while Dhaka experienced its lowest at 13.6°C. Regions such as Rangpur, Rajshahi, Bogra, and Pabna are currently experiencing cold wave conditions.
The weather forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas, released on Friday morning, predicts mostly dry weather with moderate to dense fog and temporarily partly cloudy skies. Winds from the west or northwest are expected at speeds of 6–12 kmph.
The dense fog, referred to as "advection fog" by meteorologists, is entering Bangladesh through the northern regions, originating from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal in India. This phenomenon may cause disruptions to air traffic, inland river transport, and road communications.
On Thursday, Dhaka recorded a maximum temperature of 20.7°C and a minimum of 15°C. The ongoing cold wave is likely to contribute to a continued chill, with dense fog amplifying the cold sensation during the day in some areas.
Residents are advised to take precautions and stay updated on weather alerts.
