Manikganj, Jan 04, (V7N) - Ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route were temporarily suspended late on Friday night due to thick fog, which made the waterway hazardous. Mohammad Salauddin, the manager of the Daulatdia Ferry Terminal office under Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), confirmed that the suspension was a safety measure to prevent accidents.
The suspension of ferry services has led to several vehicles, including cars and trucks, being stranded at the terminal, causing inconvenience for drivers and passengers who were waiting to cross the river. According to Salauddin, fog started to form after Friday evening and intensified as the night progressed, ultimately leading to the halt in ferry operations.
He assured that ferry services would resume once the fog clears, and visibility improves. Authorities are closely monitoring the weather conditions, with hopes of restarting the services as soon as it is safe to do so.
This interruption comes during a time of heavy fog, which is common in winter months, often affecting transport systems across the region. Travelers have been advised to stay updated on the situation.
