Chuadanga, Mar 13 (V7N) – Chuadanga is experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a season-high of 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The scorching conditions have ushered in an early onset of extreme weather, raising concerns about its impact on daily life and the environment.
According to the local Weather Observatory Centre, temperatures in Chuadanga have fluctuated between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius over the past week. However, Thursday saw a significant spike to 37 degrees.
The weather office noted that the temperature on the same day last year was 35 degrees Celsius.
Chuadanga Weather Observatory Centre reported temperatures of 33 and 35.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Rakibul Hasan, Senior Observer at the Chuadanga Weather Observatory, warned that temperatures are likely to continue rising in the coming days.
"The temperature has been between 30-35 degrees for the past week, but it has reached 37 degrees today. Such weather conditions may persist for a few more days," he stated.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's (BMD) weather bulletin on Wednesday, a mild heatwave is sweeping across the districts of Faridpur, Rajshahi, Ishurdi, Khulna, Jashore, and Chuadanga, and it is expected to spread further.
Day and night temperatures are also predicted to rise slightly across the country.
Meanwhile, isolated rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty or squally winds are expected in the Sylhet division, while the rest of the country will experience mainly dry weather with partly cloudy skies.
The intense heatwave is placing significant strain on residents, particularly vulnerable populations, and raising concerns about potential impacts on agriculture and water resources.
