Dhaka, June 12 (V7N) — The ongoing sweltering heat across the country is expected to persist for the next two to three days, with no immediate relief in sight. However, the Meteorological Office has forecast rainfall from next Sunday, which is likely to bring down temperatures.

Meteorologist Khandaker Hafizur Rahman shared this update during a briefing on Thursday (June 12).

He said that the maximum temperature recorded in the capital in the past 24 hours was 35 degrees Celsius. The highest temperatures, reaching up to 37 degrees Celsius, were recorded in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, and Nilphamari.

Explaining the discomfort, the meteorologist noted that higher levels of humidity during the monsoon season are causing people to feel the heat more intensely. Despite the discomfort, the Meteorological Department has classified the current heat as normal for this time of year.

Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak hours, and follow general precautions to cope with the heat until the expected rainfall arrives.
