Cyclone Rimal has caused extensive damage in Mongla. The storm, which began on Sunday night, continues to bring heavy rain and strong winds.
 
Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Jafar Rana reported that around 8,000 houses, both semi-pucca and kacha, have been heavily damaged, along with widespread destruction of trees and fallen electric poles. Approximately 60,000 people across 10-12 villages are now experiencing waterlogging. Currently, about 30,000 men, women, and children are staying in shelters. Additionally, Upazila Fisheries Officer Anjan Biswas stated that around 2,000 shrimp enclosures have been flooded.
 
Due to the storm, the entire area has been without electricity since Sunday morning. Furthermore, all activities at Mongla Port remain suspended.
