Dhaka, Sep 16 (V7N)— The Meteorological Department has reported moderate to heavy rains across various parts of Bangladesh, caused by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, coupled with an active monsoon. The rains have disrupted daily activities, but the intensity is expected to decrease from Tuesday, with temperatures rising by one to three degrees in most regions.

Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick stated that while rain is likely to reduce by Tuesday, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Rangpur divisions may continue to experience intermittent showers throughout the day on Monday. In contrast, the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions are expected to witness minimal rainfall.

The highest recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours occurred in Manikganj, with 189 mm, followed by Dhaka with 138 mm.

According to the latest weather update, light to moderate rain, accompanied by gusty winds, is expected in some parts of Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, as well as isolated areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Khulna on Tuesday. The forecast suggests that heavy rainfall may resume across the country after September 22.

The Meteorological Department’s extended five-day forecast indicates no significant changes in weather patterns during this period.
