Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N) – A mild heatwave is currently affecting several regions of Bangladesh, though it may begin to ease in some areas, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The heatwave has impacted the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions, as well as districts such as Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Kishoregonj, Narayangonj, Sylhet, Feni, Jessore, and Chuadanga. The BMD stated in its Monday bulletin that conditions may improve in certain places.

The department also predicted rain or thundershowers across the country within 24 hours starting from 9 AM. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, is expected in many areas of Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions, with scattered showers in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions. Some regions may experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.

Cox's Bazar recorded the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours, measuring 55 millimeters as of 6 AM.

Temperatures, both day and night, are likely to drop slightly across the country. On Sunday, Rangpur experienced the highest temperature at 38.5 degrees Celsius, while Bandarban saw the lowest at 25 degrees Celsius on Monday.
