Dhaka, Sep 30 (V7N) – The High Court has ordered the removal of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from the investigation of the high-profile Sagar-Runi murder case. In a ruling issued on Monday morning, the court also directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to form a high-powered task force to take over the investigation.

The decision came after the prosecution filed an application requesting RAB’s removal from the case. After hearing the arguments, the court accepted the application and issued its directive.

The newly formed task force has been instructed to submit a report on the progress of the investigation within six months. The Sagar-Runi murder case, which has remained unsolved for over a decade, concerns the brutal killing of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi in 2012, a case that has drawn significant public attention.

This latest development follows years of criticism regarding the slow progress of the investigation and increasing calls for justice from the media community and the victims' families.
