Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N)- Journalists have protested after being barred from entering the courtroom of the International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) with mobile phones during the July-August mass killings trials.

As the tribunal's proceedings commenced on Thursday, journalists attempting to enter the courtroom with their phones were informed by security personnel at the gate that mobile phones and electronic devices were not allowed. They were instructed to leave their phones outside if they wanted to enter, sparking protests.

Masudur Rahman, president of the Supreme Court Reporters Forum (SRF), responded to the situation, stating, "We are allowed to enter the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court with mobile phones, which is the highest court in the country. We demand the same privilege at the tribunal and call for the removal of this ban on mobile phones during the tenure of Sheikh Hasina's government."
