Dhaka, Mar 09 (V7N) – The High Court has ordered the custody of ballots and result sheets for the Comilla-11 and Mymensingh-2 constituencies following allegations of vote rigging in the 13th National Parliamentary election.
The order was issued on Monday (March 9) by the Election Tribunal of Justice Md. Zakir Hossain in response to complaints filed by BNP candidates for the two constituencies.
During the hearing, BNP lawyers alleged that Jamaat candidate Abdullah Mohammad Taher was elected in Comilla-11 through irregularities, including receiving an abnormally high number of votes. They presented documentary evidence claiming that results were manipulated by using signatures of other party agents on result sheets in the names of BNP candidates' agents at the polling centers.
The tribunal’s custody order aims to secure the election materials for further investigation into the alleged irregularities.
