Narayanganj, Mar 18 (V7N) –The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a top leader of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and nine other suspected members from Narayanganj and Mymensingh.
A team of RAB-11, after conducting three separate drives, filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act and another for illegal entry at the Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj.
The arrestees produced before the court this afternoon are Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi alias Ataullah, 48, Mostaq Ahmed, 66, Moniruzzaman, 24, Salimullah, 27, Asmaul Hosna, 23, Md Hasan, 15, Md Asmat Ullah, 24, Md Hasan, 43, Shahina, 22 and Senowara, 17.
The police applied for a twenty-day remand. After a hearing, the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Moinuddin Kadir granted six of the accused ten days in remand, which is five days in each case, State lawyer Khorshed Molla confirmed the matter.
Two separate teams of RAB-11 conducted two separate raids on 16-17 March in Notun Bazar Garden City of Sadar Police Station of Mymensingh and Bhumipalli of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj based on a tip-off.
During this time, they were arrested on charges of planning to carry out sabotage activities.
At this time, Tk21 lakh in cash, a knife, a thick steel chain and four wristwatches were seized from their possession.
