Milton Samadder, the founder of the charity organization "Child and Old Age Care," has been detained by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) for interrogation regarding alleged irregularities within the organization.

DB Chief Additional Commissioner Harun-or-Rashid announced this during a press briefing at the DB office following Milton's detention on Wednesday.

According to Harun, Milton will be questioned about various allegations, including the operation of an unauthorized operating theatre (OT) and involvement in human trafficking and organ sales. Additionally, the utilization of donations and reports of abuse within the shelter home will be scrutinized.

The DB chief emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, particularly those related to human trafficking and organ trade. He also mentioned investigations into claims of forged death certificates and discrepancies in the number of residents in Milton's ashrams.

Milton was apprehended from the Mirpur area, and the process to file a case against him is underway, informed the DB chief.

Allegations against Milton surfaced following an investigative report published in a national daily on April 25, detailing financial irregularities and accusations of illegal organ trade. His detainment follows public outcry and discussions on social media regarding the allegations.

Milton Samadder, who has received three national awards for his charitable work, is now subject to interrogation by the authorities.
