Ukhiya, June 28 (V7N)- In a tragic incident at Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya Rohingya camp, a young Rohingya man named Ismail (21) committed suicide on Thursday night (June 27) at around 9:30 PM. 
 
The incident occurred in Block H-29 of Camp 8 West. Ismail, the son of Hashim Ullah, had been reprimanded by his parents for his involvement in thefts around the camp. Feeling ashamed and frustrated by their scolding, Ismail hanged himself in his room. 
 
Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Hossain confirmed the incident, stating that the body was recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
 
In another incident at the Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, a man named Mohammad Salek was fatally stabbed by unknown assailants on Friday morning (June 28) at around 5 AM. The attack took place in Block D-76 of Camp 8 East. Salek, the son of Mohammad Nur Alam, was attacked while returning to his block from Block B-50. 
 
Severely injured, he was taken to a nearby MSF hospital by fellow camp residents. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital but succumbed to his injuries en route. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Hossain confirmed this incident as well, noting that the body has been sent for an autopsy and legal actions are underway.
 
These incidents underscore the ongoing security and social challenges within the Rohingya camps.
