Meherpur, Aug 30 (V7N) - In a joint raid by the army and police on Thursday, (August 29) a large quantity of government goods was recovered from a rented house in Cashabpara, Meherpur. The house was used as a warehouse by Dolan, the cousin of former Administrative Minister Farhad Hossain. The recovered goods, including Qurans, sports equipment, sewing machines, wheelchairs, medical supplies, and clothing, are estimated to be worth over a crore taka.
The operation took place at the home of Surman Ali, with the joint team breaking the lock to access the premises. According to Ali, Dolan rented a flat on the ground floor a year ago, paying a monthly rent of Tk 6 thousands and used it to store various government items.
Gazi Moinudur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Meherpur Sadar Upazila, confirmed that the raid was conducted based on reports of government goods being stored at the location. The seized items will be transported to the District Commissioner’s office and kept under police custody. A detailed inventory and valuation of the goods will be carried out on Friday. Legal action will be taken against the accused.
