Khagrachari, Sep 29 (V7N)— The investigation committee, formed to probe the recent violent incidents in the hill districts of Khagrachari and Rangamati, has begun its work. On Sunday morning, the committee, led by Chittagong Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Mohammad Nurullah Noori, visited Larma Square in Dighinala to inspect the site of the violence.

The committee includes Khagrachari's Additional District Magistrate Roslin Shahid Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Tafiqul Alam, and Dighinala Upazila Executive Officer Mamunur Rashid. During the visit, the members inspected the burnt market, spoke with affected traders and eyewitnesses, and held discussions with local Pahari and Bengali leaders to gather information about the incident.

The investigation team urged the community to maintain communal harmony while they gather evidence. Mohammad Nurullah Noori stated that the committee will compile its findings after reviewing testimonies from eyewitnesses, expert opinions, video footage, and media reports. The final report will aim to uncover the cause of the violence.

In Rangamati, a separate investigation committee has also been formed and is expected to submit its report within two weeks. These investigations follow violent clashes that erupted on September 18 after a youth was beaten to death on theft charges. The unrest resulted in the deaths of four people and left many others injured.

The Chittagong Divisional Commissioner established the seven-member investigation committee on September 26, and the report is expected within the next 14 working days.
