Rangamati, Oct 04 (V7N)-  The Rangamati district administration has once again extended the ban on tourists entering Sajek tourist center , located in the Ruilui Valley of Sajek Union in Baghaichhari Upazila , for an indefinite period. This is the third time the restriction has been imposed, citing safety concerns in the area.

The announcement was made on Thursday evening (October 3) by Rangamati District Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan . The new directive follows two previous discouragement phases, first from September 24 to 27 and then again until September 30 , before being extended a third time. The indefinite ban comes as a precautionary measure, given the law and order situation in Sajek and surrounding areas.

In a press release signed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam , it was stated that the decision to discourage tourist visits was made after assessing the current security situation. Deputy Commissioner Mosharraf Hossain Khan explained, "Tourists travel to Sajek through Khagrachari , and considering the overall situation there, we are discouraging travel indefinitely. Once the situation normalizes, we will inform tourists."

The decision comes after violent unrest in the region left 1,500 tourists stranded in Sajek from September 20 to 23 , requiring assistance from the army to ensure their safe return to Khagrachari . A law and order meeting was held on September 24 , where it was initially decided to discourage tourism for three days, a ban that was later extended twice before this latest indefinite extension.

Tourists eager to visit the scenic Sajek Valley are now advised to postpone their plans until further notice, as the administration continues to monitor the security situation closely.
