Khulna, Oct 06 (V7N)- Khulna District Commissioner Mohmand Saiful Islam Maheshwarpasha inspected the progress of the steel silo under construction under the Modern Food Storage Construction Project.

Today (October 6) morning, Maniktala visited the project on the bank of river Bhairav ​​inside the food warehouse and after visiting the project area, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the officials of the food department and the officials of the contracting firm Max Group.  During this time he inquired about the overall progress and work of the project.

It should be noted that the construction work of modern steel silo is scheduled to be completed in December-2024 at a cost of 355 crore 91 lakh 7 thousand 389 taka.  Already 82.2 percent of the project has been completed.  Rest of the work will be completed within 2/1 month.  If the project is implemented, wheat can be stored for up to three years while maintaining the quality of food grains. 

According to the sources related to the project, under the modern food storage project, construction of wheat steel silo in Khulna started on January 12, 2022.   Bangladeshi company Max Group and Turkish company Al Tuntas are jointly working on the project.  Bangladesh Government and World Bank are jointly financing this project.

If the steel silo is built, 76 thousand 200 metric tons of wheat can be stored.  And heat quality will be maintained for up to 3 years.  Wheat can be stored in 6 drums of steel silos, furnaces or bins by fully technology based machine without any hand touch.  Each drum, furnace or bin has a capacity of 12,700 metric tons.
