Khulna, Oct 09 (V7N) — The Forestry and Wood Technology Club of Khulna University has successfully collected over 20,000 used plastic bottles and distributed more than 700 tree saplings in a two-day program titled 'Give and Take Season-2.' The event took place at Hadi Chatwar on the university campus and concluded on Tuesday evening.

Speaking about the initiative, Ekramul Haque , General Secretary of the Forestry and Wood Technology Club, said that like the previous year, this year's program saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, university officials, and even the general public. Participants exchanged used plastic bottles for saplings, aiming to reduce plastic waste and promote environmental conservation.

"Within just two days, we managed to collect over 20,000 plastic bottles and distribute more than 700 saplings," said Ekramul Haque. The initiative was widely appreciated by participants, contributing to both environmental cleanliness and reforestation efforts.

Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim , senior professor responsible for overseeing emergency administrative and financial activities at the university, inaugurated the event on Monday. He praised the club’s efforts, stating, "Collecting such a large quantity of plastic bottles in just two days is a significant achievement. These plastic bottles are harmful to the environment, posing a threat to both human life and biodiversity. Initiatives like this help raise public awareness about the dangers of environmental pollution."

The 'Give and Take' initiative is expected to encourage people to reduce plastic use while promoting tree planting as a way to combat environmental degradation.
