Cox's Bazar, Oct 12 (V7N) — The country’s largest Durga Puja immersion ceremony will be held in Cox’s Bazar, with preparations already underway to ensure the event takes place in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere. A special meeting, initiated by the Cox’s Bazar district administration, was held on Saturday morning at the Shahid ATM Zafar Alam conference room of the District Commissioner’s office to coordinate security and other arrangements for the event.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salauddin chaired the meeting, which included participation from law enforcement agencies, political leaders, and representatives of the Puja Celebration Committee.

This year, 321 mandaps have been set up across the district for Durga Puja, with 151 idols and 170 Ghat pujas scheduled. Deputy Commissioner Salauddin emphasized the importance of maintaining maximum security during the immersion procession to ensure the event remains safe and smooth. He called on law enforcement to stay vigilant and stressed the need to complete the immersion ceremony within the allotted time.

During the meeting, Salauddin urged all participants to work together to promote a non-discriminatory and inclusive society, in line with the spirit of Durga Puja.

The meeting saw contributions from key figures such as Lt. Col. Tanveer Ahmed , Captain of Army 9 ECB Cox’s Bazar, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Rahmat Ullah , Civil Surgeon Asif Ahmed Howladar , District BNP President Shahajahan Chowdhury , Cox’s Bazar Press Club President Mahabubur Rahman , Jamaat Leader Shahidul Alam Bahadur , District Puja Udyapan Parishad President Uday Shankar Pal Mithu (Acting) , General Secretary Deepak Sharma Dipu (Acting) , and student representative Sahidul Wahid Saheed . Representatives from law enforcement and various departments were also present.

The meeting highlighted the importance of community collaboration and careful planning to make the immersion ceremony, a major cultural event in the district, both safe and memorable.
