Rajshahi, Oct 19 V7N- Students at Rajshahi University (RU) have taken the initiative to remove nails, signboards, and banners from trees on the campus, restoring their natural beauty. The program started at noon on Saturday, October 19, after a call for action by the university's student advisor, Amirul Islam Kanak, via social media the previous night.

Various voluntary organizations, including IEEE RUSB, Student Community Policing Forum, Rabi Science Club, Rabi Green Voice, Rover Scout, English Speaking Club, and ACCE Group, participated in this effort.

Ashiqur Rahman Antar, president of Rabi Green Voice, mentioned that previous attempts to remove the banners were unsuccessful due to a lack of support from the administration, as some banners were tied to political organizations. However, with the current administration’s initiative, these voluntary organizations responded to the student advisor’s call and are actively working to remove the materials from the trees.

Atiq, a member of the Rajshahi University Speaking Club, expressed hope that all voluntary groups would work together to improve the campus's aesthetic by removing the nails and restoring the trees.

Student Advisor Amirul Islam Kanak said the initiative came at the advice of Vice-Chancellor Saleh Hasan Nakeeb. The students had been demanding the removal of the banners and posters, which have been a long-standing issue on the campus. The effort uncovered more nails than initially expected, with hundreds being removed from just one tree. He added that in the future, precautionary measures would be implemented to prevent such practices.

This collaborative effort is part of a broader movement to enhance the natural environment on campus, making it more beautiful and sustainable.
