Kishoreganj, Nov 30 (V7N) — The nine donation boxes and two trunks of the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj were reopened on Saturday morning. The money collected was placed into 29 sacks for counting, with the total amount yet to be confirmed.

The reopening ceremony was attended by Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Management Committee President Fauzia Khan, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hashan Chowdhury, and members of the mosque's management committee. Over 285 madrasa students, 50 bank staff, 34 committee members, and 10 law enforcement officers participated in the counting process.

Kishoreganj DC Fauzia Khan stated, "The calculation is ongoing, and the final count will reveal the amount of money, gold, and other valuable items donated."

This routine event occurs approximately every three months. The last counting, conducted on August 17, yielded an impressive TK 7.22 crore, alongside gold, silver, and foreign coins.

The Pagla Masjid Islami Complex, located on a four-acre site along the Narsunda River in Kishoreganj, is steeped in history and spiritual significance. Established over two centuries ago, the mosque is renowned for fulfilling devotees' vows, attracting visitors from far and wide.

As counting proceeds, the mosque continues to stand as a testament to the devotion of its worshippers and the rich cultural and religious heritage of the region.
