Teknaf, Dec 21 (V7N)- The displaced Rohingya community has reiterated their readiness to return to their homeland in Myanmar, provided their civil rights and security are assured. This statement was made during a rally organized by the Arkan Rohingya Youth Forum at Camp No. 9 in Ukhiya on Saturday, December 21.
The rally, attended by hundreds of Rohingya teachers, students, and youth, focused on critical issues such as maintaining peace within the refugee camps, addressing the recent developments in Myanmar's Rakhine state, and ensuring justice for the genocide committed against the Rohingya by the Myanmar junta government.
Key Demands Highlighted at the Rally
- Civil Rights and Security: The Rohingya emphasized the need for guarantees of their civil rights and safety before considering repatriation.
- Justice for Genocide: Speakers called for accountability for the atrocities committed against the Rohingya community.

Rohingya leader Dr. Zubair stated, "If our demands are confirmed, we will voluntarily return to Myanmar."

Additional DIG Siraj Amin, commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion, confirmed the gathering and noted that it ended peacefully without any untoward incidents.
