Dhaka, Dec 24 (V7N) — Bangladesh Railway has launched the new 'Jehanabad Express' train service on the Dhaka-Khulna route via the Padma Bridge, significantly reducing travel time and costs. The train departed from Khulna for Dhaka at 6:00 am today and reached Dhaka in just over four hours, a welcome development for passengers.

The 'Ruposhi Bangla Express', the same train operating under a different name, commenced its journey from Dhaka to Benapole at 10:45 am, arriving at 2:30 pm. The train will return to Dhaka at 3:30 pm, reaching its destination by 7:10 pm.

The train comprises 12 coaches, including 11 passenger coaches with a seating capacity of 768 and one cargo van for transporting goods. Ticket fares are set at:

Shobon Chair: Tk 445

Snigdha Class: Tk 740

AC Seat: Tk 885

AC Berth: Tk 1,330

The new route saves passengers at least 5–6 hours compared to other trains operating on the Dhaka-Khulna route.

'Jehanabad Express' Schedule:

Departs Khulna at 6:00 am, arrives in Dhaka at 9:45 am.

Departs Dhaka at 8:00 pm, arrives in Khulna at 11:40 pm.

'Ruposhi Bangla Express' Schedule:

Departs Dhaka at 10:45 am, arrives in Benapole at 2:30 pm.

Departs Benapole at 3:30 pm, arrives in Dhaka at 7:10 pm.

Both trains have a weekly closure on Mondays.

The Jehanabad Express provides a faster alternative to existing trains such as the Sundarban Express, Chitra Express, and Nakshikantha Commuter, which take 7–10 hours to travel between Dhaka and Khulna.

Shah Sufi Noor Mohammad, Divisional Manager of Bangladesh Railway, highlighted the pride and utility of the new service:

"This is a significant achievement for the Railways. The people of Khulna can now reach Dhaka in a shorter time, covering a shorter distance, and at a lower cost."

Passengers have expressed satisfaction with the service, which not only saves time but also reduces fares compared to other trains on the route.
