Meherpur, Dec 26, (V7N) - The body of Rubina Khatun, a 28-year-old female police constable, was discovered at her residence in the Kamalapur area of Kushtia city on Wednesday evening. Rubina, who served in the General Record Office (GRO) at the Kushtia court, was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
 
Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Shihabur Rahman, stated that preliminary investigations indicate the possibility of suicide. However, he emphasized that the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy results are received.
 
Police reported that Rubina's colleagues grew concerned when they couldn't reach her by phone throughout the day. They then contacted a neighbor, who spoke with Rubina's husband. He mentioned that she had been feeling unwell and had kept the door closed since the morning.
After several unsuccessful attempts to contact her, Rubina's colleagues arrived at her home. Upon forcing entry, they found her lifeless body hanging from a ceiling fan.
 
Rubina Khatun was the daughter of Abdul Sheikh from Ramnagar village in Meherpur district. She was married to Alal Sheikh, 30, from Ratanpur village, also in Meherpur.
 
The couple, along with their two children, resided in the Kamalapur area.
On the day of the incident, the children were visiting relatives, while Rubina and her husband were at home due to a holiday.
 
The police have initiated a thorough investigation, considering all possible scenarios. The body has been sent to Kushtia General Hospital for a post-mortem, according to the officer in charge.
