Rangamati, Jan 10, (V7N) - Following the directives of the High Court, a mobile court led by the Upazila Administration in Kaukhali Upazila of Rangamati has shut down three illegal brick kilns and imposed fines.
 
During the operation, the fire in the kilns’ burning chambers was extinguished with the help of the Fire Service, and raw bricks were destroyed using excavators provided by the LGED.
 
The day-long operation, conducted on Friday, was confirmed by the Rangamati District Administration office.
 
Kaukhali Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Kazi Atiqur Rahman spearheaded the operation. He stated that fines of Tk 50,000 each, amounting to a total of Tk 1,50,000, were imposed on the owners of JBM Bricks in Garichhara village of Kalampati Union, ATM Bricks in Adarshagram, and M&C Bricks in Tarabunia village. Notices were also posted, ordering the closure of the kilns.
 
The Rangamati District Administration has pledged to continue similar operations against illegal brick kilns in the future.
