Rangamati, Jan 17, (V7N) - As part of the nationwide Youth Festival, a 10-day-long Folk and Handicraft Fair has begun in the hilly district of Rangamati, organized by the district administration. The fair was inaugurated on Thursday (January 16) afternoon at the Shaheed Bir Muktiyoddha Abdus Shukur Stadium in R reserve Bazaar, Rangamati. The event kicked off with the cutting of a ribbon and the release of balloons, led by the Rangamati District Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah.

Rangamati's Police Superintendent Dr. SM Farhad Hossain, Commander of the Sadar Senzone Lt. Colonel Ershad Hossain Chowdhury-PSC, members of the district administration, police, Rangamati District Council, political leaders, social organization representatives, and media personnel were present at the inauguration.

The fair, featuring nearly 150 stalls, will run until January 26. The stalls are decorated with a variety of indigenous and local products, showcasing the unique cultural heritage of the region.

Speaking to the media at the event, Rangamati District Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah stated, "The youth is the future of our country. This fair has been organized to inspire the younger generation and showcase the culture, traditions, and heritage of the hill district to the rest of the country. The fair also provides an entertainment platform for the locals and will contribute to Rangamati’s economy."

When asked about the fair's security arrangements, Rangamati Police Superintendent Dr. SM Farhad Hossain assured that necessary steps have been taken to ensure the fair is held smoothly and peacefully. Both uniformed and plainclothes police officers will be deployed throughout the fairgrounds.

The event, which has been held at the Shaheed Bir Muktiyoddha Abdus Shukur Stadium in R reserve Bazaar for over 20 years, has created a festive atmosphere among the local people.

The fair runs from morning until 9:00 PM, and visitors can enjoy scenic views of the Central Shaheed Minar and the beautiful Kaptai Lake, located nearby, adding an extra charm to the experience.
