Jhalakathi, Jan 24, (V7N) - A tragic road accident claimed the life of a man in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi, early Friday morning while he was en route to Kuakata for a picnic.

The accident occurred around 4:45 am in the Pratap area along the Jhalakathi-Barisal highway. Abdus Salam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, confirmed the incident.

The deceased was identified as Asaduzzaman Asad (65), son of the late Ruhul Amin Sardar from Benapole, Jessore district.

According to Rubina Begum, the wife of the deceased, "We were traveling from Jessore’s Benapole to Kuakata for a picnic. During a stop, everyone got out of the vehicle to use the washroom. Later, we returned to the car, but my husband did not. After searching, we discovered his body on the road."

Locals believe Asad may have been struck by a passing vehicle while crossing the road after coming out of the washroom.

The police recovered the body after being informed. "The body has been sent to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital for an autopsy," said OC Abdus Salam. "Legal action will be taken if the family files a complaint."
