Chittagong, Jan 25 (V7N) — Police, with the help of locals, arrested 11 individuals on Friday night for attempting a robbery while impersonating members of the military intelligence agency (DGFI). The incident occurred at a flat in the South Khulshi area of Chittagong city.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Wazed, Md. Hossain, Md. Rubel Hossain, Mohi Uddin, Abdus Sabur, Yakub, Mozaher Alam, Md. Romel, Osman, Abdul Mannan, and Shawkat Akbar Emon.

According to the police, the group arrived at the Royal Reach building in a microbus and presented themselves as DGFI personnel to the security guards. They then forced their way into a flat on the eighth floor and began looting. However, their suspicious behaviour raised alarms among neighbours, who promptly informed the authorities.

Police arrived on the scene and, with the assistance of locals, apprehended all 11 suspects. Fake DGFI identity cards, toy weapons, and various tools were recovered from their possession.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Faisal Ahmed stated, "An investigation is underway to uncover further details about the group and their motives."

The incident has sparked concerns about the use of fake identities for criminal activities and highlights the need for vigilance in residential areas.
