Tangail , Jan 26 (V7N) - The Kalihati Reporters Unity in Tangail conducted a blanket distribution program on Saturday night (January 25) to assist those affected by the severe cold. A total of 200 blankets were distributed to distressed and uprooted individuals. The event was presided over by Reporters Unity President Moniruzzaman Matin, with Kalihati Upazila BNP Senior Vice President Md. Majnu Mia serving as the chief guest.

Special guests included Upazila BNP Labor Affairs Secretary Abdus Salam and Lutfar Rahman Lelin, Upazila BNP Student Affairs Secretary and former student party leader. The event also featured speeches from Kalihati Press Club’s former president, Rashid Ahmed Abbasi, and Reporters Unity Acting General Secretary Monir Hossain.

During the night, a mobile team from Reporters Unity distributed blankets to homeless individuals at the Upazila Sadar bus stand, the hospital, markets, and along roadsides, continuing until late into the night.

Kalihati Reporters Unity stated that their initiative stems from a sense of social responsibility, complementing their professional journalistic duties.

In addition to this program, the organization has a history of humanitarian efforts, such as distributing clean drinking water and saline during heatwaves, organizing free medical camps for flood victims, and providing free medicines to over 2,500 individuals. They have also contributed to environmental conservation by distributing thousands of tree saplings and supported the historic July Revolution anti-discrimination movement by providing dry food and water to students maintaining traffic order during periods of unrest.

The group’s dedication to community welfare has earned them widespread praise for their impactful initiatives.
