Khulna, Jan 29 (V7N)— The Khulna Divisional Tank Truck Workers Union has withdrawn its strike following assurances from the administration, allowing oil extraction and supply to resume in 16 districts from the Padma, Meghna, and Jamuna oil depots on Wednesday morning.

Union leaders stated that they decided to call off the strike after considering public suffering and receiving a commitment from the authorities to address their demands. However, they warned of further action if their concerns are not met.

The tanker workers had initiated the strike on Sunday, January 26, in protest against the arrest of Ali Azim, General Secretary of the Khulna Divisional Tanker Workers Union. As a result, fuel supplies were severely disrupted, leading to fuel shortages across Khulna. Many petrol pumps ran dry, forcing drivers to return home empty-handed, causing significant inconvenience.

With the strike now over, normal fuel distribution has resumed, easing concerns for residents and businesses affected by the disruption.
